Alma Mater

Over the past year, live, in-person performances have had to go into hibernation. While this has been an all-around negative, some shows, like music concerts, have been able to find some level of success by doing livestream and Zoom shows. One area of entertainment that hasn’t quite been so successful, though, is standup comedy. The intimacy and interaction of live comedy gets lost in the distance created in livestream shows -- without that feedback between audience and comedian, standup shows run the risk of feeling lifeless.

So, the decision was made to set aside our regular comedy night, Laughing Mater, until such time as we could safely have actual audience members in attendance. This week marks the triumphant return of Laughing Mater, which will take the first Friday of each month to reintroduce Tacoma to live comedy.
